Quest to Zero

So what’s the point of this blog? I guess it’s to hold myself accountable, to finally plow through my gaming backlog of shame.

Hello. My name is Ashley and I have a hoarding problem. None of this is physical though. My hoarding is entirely of a digital nature. I have nearly 1000 games in my Steam library, and yet 95% of those have been completely unplayed. That’s not even everything either; there are games I own on GoG, Epic, PSN, etc as well!

There are games I don’t even remember buying. I’d love to be able to blame it entirely on an errant Humble Bundle subscription, but a lot of these games I’ve actually bought on purpose and then just never got around to playing.

So what’s the point of this blog? I guess it’s to hold myself accountable, to finally plow through my gaming backlog of shame. As I make my way through, I’ll write a review of each game. Some games will be triple-A (quadruple-A even!) mainstream behemoths, some games will be niche little novelties, but I’ll treat them all with the respect they deserve (or don’t, in some instances).

Feel free to follow me on a journey of sorts through this veritable mishmash of gaming. There will be no set posting timetable, just reviews as and when I’ve “finished” a game. Now, finishing doesn’t necessarily mean completing; finishing could also just mean I’ve played for an hour or two and the game is absolutely not for me, but I’d like to think I’ll give them all a fair shake.

So if you’re vaguely interested in some British guy’s thoughts on a myriad of games, old and new, then feel free to follow along with me if you’re so inclined. You can then also tell me about how my opinion on said games is bad/good/somewhere-in-between, or give me a recommendation of what game to sink my teeth into next.

So what's the point of all this? I guess it's to hold myself accountable, to finally plough through my gaming backlog of shame. With the advent of handheld PC gaming (the Steam Deck truly is one of the greatest ever creations), I'm finding it easier to make my way through what originally felt like a Herculean task. I'll be writing a review of each game, some of which will be triple-A (quadruple-A even!) mainstream behemoths, whilst others will be niche little novelties, but I'll treat them all with the respect they deserve (or don't, in some instances).
